Crafts With Fruit Baskets

Hits: 2

Fruit baskets can be used for a variety of crafts you can use to decorate your home or give as gifts. A simple fruit basket can hold a floral arrangement, edible fruit bouquet or eye-catching faux fruit centerpiece for your dining room table. With a few basic craft supplies, you can turn a plain basket into a personalized gift basket for a loved one.

Flower Arrangements
Create decorative fruit basket flower arrangements for display in your home. This fruit basket craft can be assembled with fresh or silk flowers. Cut a piece of floral foam to a size that will fit in the bottom of the fruit basket. For fresh flowers, soak the foam in water and place on a paper plate in the bottom of your basket. Gather the flower stems and trim them to the desired height. Arrange larger blooms such as roses, lilies, hydrangeas and gerbera daisies first. Add smaller blooms such as button mums, sweet pea and baby's breath. Add height to the fruit basket flower arrangement with stems of veronica, delphinium, gladiola and thin curving branches. Mix in sprays of berries and stems of wheat for an autumn arrangement. Attach a ribbon bow to the basket to complete the arrangement and display it on a coffee table or end table.

Edible Fruit Basket Bouquet
For parties or special occasions, create an edible fruit basket craft that is both beautiful and delicious. Cut a piece of Styrofoam to fit in the bottom of a fruit basket, wrap it in clear plastic wrap and secure it in the basket's bottom. String green and red grapes on a wooden skewer shish kebab style. Cut a fresh pineapple into round slices and remove small sections from around their edges to look like flower petals. Stick the tip of a short wooden skewer through the center of each pineapple flower and place a cantaloupe ball on its end. Remove the green stems from a few strawberries and place them on the end of wooden skewers. Arrange the fruit flowers in the basket by sticking the wooden stems into the Styrofoam base. Fill extra space between the fruit flowers and basket with bunches of parsley.
